The following SAILING TRAINING COURSES are on offer as full day, afternoon, evening or weekend courses as required. Courses are tailored to your abilities and needs. Contact me for more details and arrangements as courses can be arranged to suit you.

Ten sessions equals 10 evenings or 5 full days so that completion of a course can be modified your requirements.

 

Irish Sailing Association(ISA) Dinghy and Keelboat Sailing Courses

 

Taste of Sailing (2- 3 hrs)

Simply an introduction to sailing for the complete novice to have a go and have fun, to see what it is like. Does this suit me ? Ideal for small groups

Cost:

  •  70 per person

 

Start Sailing - ISA Level 1 (2 days)

Time to get the feel of sailing as an absolute novice. Gain a basic awareness of the fun to be had sailing on water blown by the wind. 2 days, no previous experience required.

Cost:

  • 250 under 16
  • €300 adult

 

Basic Skills - ISA Level 2 (3 days)

Course for beginners with Level I certificate or some experience. Learn the essentials of the sport, knowing where and how to sail the boat safely in a seamanship like manner in the local area, being able to reduce sail on windier days, and how to retrieve your crew after a man overboard and more.

Cost:

  • €320under 16
  • €400 adult

 

Improving Skills - ISA Level 3 (5 days)

Students require at least a full seasons experience after their level 2. A practical course learning to make seamanlike decisions in moderate conditions, reefing afloat, anchoring, lee shore landings and planning short trip. At the end of the course be able to demonstrate a competent, realistic and purposeful approach to sailing.

  • €400 under 16
  • 475 adult

 

Advanced Skills ISA - Level 4 (5 days)

Course for experienced sailors, having knowledge of a variety of craft and sailing conditions, leading to Instructor Training Certification. The course will include sailing in adverse conditions and identifying damage and repairs needed. Also, time will be spent planning chart work for expeditions and include the practical use of GPS and compass work. A day cruise will be planned and completed on coastal waters.

Special Events

 

Sailing Camps (Children's Holiday Courses)

5 full days 10.00 - 16.30 HRS

Five day course for young people to learn the basic skills of sailing. Initially sailing close to home and then venturing out in to the bay sailing around buoys beaching back at our own site for lunch on the first days. At end of the week, if the group sailing skills are sufficient and the weather permits, a trip/expedition will be undertaken to visit one of the local beaches or coves for a picnic and a barbeque. A mini adventure putting what has been learnt into practice. Memories for life, there is nothing quite like it.

Minimum age 10

Cost:

  • Course € 375 per head

Book a second week for only €200.

Courtmacsherry Sailing Club

Club time for you to develop skills, simple racing, and other events for people who have been on a course and wish to gain more experience, or just want time on the water. We plan small expeditions and sails along the coast visiting various bays, islands and sailing further perhaps overnight camping on an island.

Thursday and Friday evenings at approximately 18.00hrs and Sunday Mornings at 11.00hrs throughout the season, weather and tides permitting.

Cost:

  • € 300 annual membership

 

Own Boat Tuition


Personal tuition in your own vessel, assisting you to safely get the best from you and your boat. Can be arranged locally or further afield.

Cost:

  • € 350 per day

is based in the picturesque village of Courtmacsherry less than 25 miles from Cork City. Courtmacsherry Water Sports Centre would like to enable individuals & groups to have the opportunity to gain experience or qualifications in sailing ventures within a safe exciting environment on both land and sea.
