The following POWERBOAT TRAINING COURSES are on offer:


ISA and RYA powerboat courses are taught using a variety of craft. From the tiller steered 3.6 metre 15 hp Jeaneux and the console steered 3.9m 30 hp Secu plastic boats to the very capable 6.7m Lencraft with the 150 hp outboard fitted out for the advanced course. The more advanced courses involve using GPS Chart Plotters, Vhf radios, compass and chart work. These are all taught with all the equipment provided.

We are fortunate that powerboating courses can operate in most weather conditions so that courses are available all year round.

 

ISA/RYA Powerboat Certificate Level 1 (1day)

One full day no experience required or expected

Basic practical boat handling course introducing the skills and background knowledge required to help operate an open power driven craft safely.

Cost:

  • Course € 250 per person

 

ISA/RYA National Powerboat Certificate Level 2 (2 day)


For people with Level 1 or equivalent experience of small open powerboats. Subjects taught include high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery, general boat handling, essential navigation and more.

Cost:

  • Course € 400 per person

  • Combined level 1+2 course €500 per person

  • Direct Assessment for experienced helms only. Assessment € 175 per person

 

ISA/RYA Safety boat Certificate (2 days)


For experienced safety boat crews at sailing clubs.

Practical tasks of towing, righting dinghies and collecting crews will be demonstrated and practiced. Positioning craft to best advantage for covering safety at races. This is very much a hands on course, developing teamwork, preparation for all eventualities and effective communication skills.

  • Course € 400 per person


ISA Advanced Powerboat Certificate (2 days)


The aim of the course is to enable participants to be able to helm a planning powerboat safely by day and night in waters with which they are familiar. For experienced crews and helms who have the National Powerboat Certificate with coastal navigation knowledge and chart work to the level of ISA Yachtmaster Coastal Shore based Certificate.

Cost:

  • Course € 500 per person

 

ISA Sports-boat Certificate (2 days/16 hrs)


Got a new boat, need to know how to get the best from it, come on an exciting to develop your skills and learn more about safety for you and your crew. Gain an awareness on how to get the best from you and the boat.

Cost:

  • Course € 360 per person

ISA/RYA International Certificate of Competence


For those wishing to hire or charter boats abroad. Test takes about half a day. Can be taken on your vessel or one provided by the centre, includes questions on collision avoidance, navigation, pilotage and safety.

Cost:

  • € 150 per person plus ISA/RYA fees

CEVNI European Inland Waterways Test


Legal requirement to take a craft through inland waters.

Cost:

  • Course € 75 per person plus ISA/RYA fees

Own Boat Tuition


Personal tuition in your own vessel, assisting you to safely get the best from you and your boat. Can be arranged locally or further afield.

Cost:

  • € 350 per day
